Biography

Yolanda studied painting and theatre design at the Slade School of Fine Art. Her many credits include, for The Royal Ballet, A BLUE ROSE (Peter Wright), L’INVITATION AU VOYAGE (Michael Corder), for Kenneth MacMillan SYMPHONY, RITUALS, VALLEY OF SHADOWS, REQUIEM, MY BROTHER, MY SISTERS, DIFFERENT DRUMMER and PLAYGROUND (BRB), Anthony Dowell's SWAN LAKE and costumes for Natalia Makarova's LA BAYADÈRE. She has designed NUTCRACKER (Strasbourg) and CINDERELLA (Lisbon) and five RüCKERT songs for Rambert Dance Company as well as LE CORSAIRE, THE NUTCRACKER and SWAN LAKE for K Ballet, Japan. Her theatre design includes CAMINO REAL and ANTHONY AND CLEOPATRA for the RSC. She lectured at the Slade School's Theatre Department and was made a Fellow of UCL.


Yolanda has had many exhibitions at RBA Galleries, Woodstock Gallery, Hazlett Gallery, the Serpentine Gallery, Whitechapel Art Gallery, Wright Hepburn Gallery, British Theatre Museum and in cities such as Paris, Rome, Verona, Cologne, Basle, Milan. She has paintings at the National Portrait Gallery and in 2000 won the Garrick-Milne prize for theatrical portrait painting.
